Virtual ESE Online Distance Learning Courses

The summer 2008 schedule of online courses offered via the statewide Virtual Exceptional Student Education (ESE) Online Distance Learning Program has been released.  The courses are sponsored by the Bureau of Exceptional Education and Student Services to assist teachers seeking an endorsement in Autism, Severe and Profound Disabilities, and/or Pre-K Disabilities.

 

Elementary K-6 Online Content Review Module

This online module is designed to help educators review and refresh their knowledge base in the areas of language arts, math, science and technology, visual arts/music, health and physical education and social science, as required in Florida’s Elementary K-6 Certification, to comply with requirements of NCLB.  If you are a Florida educator who is pursuing Elementary K-6 certification and agree to provide demographic and satisfaction survey feedback, you are eligible to register for this free module.  Once registered, the module is accessible for a twelve week time period.

 

Middle Grades Integrated Curriculum 5-9 Online Content Review Module

This online module is designed to help educators review and refresh their knowledge base in the areas of English, math, science, and social studies, as required in Florida’s Integrated Curriculum Middle Grades 5-9 certification exam.  If you are a Florida educator who is pursuing Middle Grades Integrated Curriculum 5-9 certification and agree to provide demographic and satisfaction survey feedback, you are eligible to register for this free module.  Once registered, the module is accessible for a twelve week time period.

 

University Special Education Coursework

Follow this link to a coursework chart that provides information related to special education and related services degree programs offered at nine of Florida’s public universities.  The chart also includes course offerings that lead toward endorsements in the areas of autism, severe/profound, and PreK disabilities.  There are links to university web sites included if you need specific program information.

 

Professional Development Alternatives-Exceptional Student Education (PDA-ESE)

The eight free PDA-ESE online courses are designed for ESE and Regular Education teachers who need to:

renew a teaching certificate

prepare for the new ESE K-12 Subject Area Exam

meet the credit-hour requirements when teaching out-of-field

target an area identified in a professional development plan.

The courses include Foundations of ESE, Assessment and Evaluation, Instructional Practices, Positive Behavioral Supports, Transition, Language and Communication Development, Interpersonal Interactions and Participation, and Differentiating Reading Instruction for Students: Making It Explicit.  The Differentiating Reading Instruction for Students: Making It Explicit online module meets the Reading Endorsement Competencies Four and Five.

The Accelerated School Administrator Program (ASAP)

This program has been successfully incorporated into many district leadership programs throughout Florida. The ASAP modules provide high-quality, interactive learning in content areas that are aligned with and support Florida’s principal leadership standards.
